Characters are listed in alphabetical order by their first names or last names if only their last names are given in the story. The character list is divided into three sections: the rangers, the villains, and miscellaneous. 

THE RANGERS:

Billy Cranston:Tricera Ranger Blue, 15-years-old, from Angel Grove Central. Born in 1985. Billy's mother died of cancer when he was young, and he was raised by his father. Billy was trained in the Jinenkan art by Master Kosugi, a janitor at his school. Billy was a genius, but he was introverted and very shy. As a Ranger, Billy controlled the Triceratops Dinozord and was armed with the Tricera Lance. 

Jason Scott:Tyranno Ranger Red, 15-years-old, from Angel Grove East. Born in 1985. Jason's twin sister Janet was killed by members of the Purple Dragon Gang shortly before he became a Ranger. He studied martial arts under Master Ohm at a dojo in Little Tokyo. As a Ranger, Jason controlled the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord and was armed with the Tyranno Sword.

Kimberly Hart: Ptera Ranger Pink, 15-years-old, from Angel Grove South. Born in 1985. Kimberly's parents divorced when she was young, and she lived with her mother. Her mother often stayed out late and was rarely home or seen. She never saw her father after the divorce. As a Ranger, Kimberly controlled the Pterodactyl Dinozord and was armed with the Ptera Bow.

 

Tommy Oliver:Dragon Ranger Green, 15-years-old, from Angel Grove North. Born in 1985. Attended Angel Grove North Community High School. Tommy was adopted at the age of four (1989) after his parents died. His adopted parents had two children of their own, 9-year-old Teddy and 15-year-old Chelsea. Tommy and Chelsea shared the same birthday. Tommy studied the Hakkyokuseiken style under the leadership of Master Mugensai at the Hayate Way school in Little Tokyo. As a Ranger, Tommy controlled the Dragonzord and was armed with the Dragon Dagger.

Trini Kwan: Tiger Ranger Yellow, 15-years-old, from Angel Grove West. Born in 1985. Trini's father mysteriously disappeared when she was four (1989). He was eventually pronounced dead. Trini was adopted by a family in Angel Grove. Her new father did not approve of her martial arts training. She was trained by her adopted grandfather, Master Tao. As a Ranger, Trini controlled the Sabertooth Tiger zord and was armed with the Tiger Daggers.

Zack Taylor:Mammoth Ranger Black, 15-years-old, from Angel Grove North. Born in 1985. Zack and his friends often partied with drugs and alcohol. As a Ranger, Zack controlled the Mammoth Dinozord and was armed with the Mammoth Breaker. 

THE VILLAINS:

Bandora:Bandora was a Ryujinn, an ancient race that lived among the dinosaurs about 1.7-million years ago. Her son Kai was killed by a dinosaur after disturbing its nest. Bandora swore vengeance and sold her soul to the evil spirit DaiSatan, who transformed her into a powerful witch. She summoned the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. She was defeated by Zordon and his Rangers after a lengthy battle and banished from the mortal plane. As a witch, Bandora used shadow energy to manipulate creatures she summoned from a demonic deck of cards, given to her by DaiSatan. (First mentioned in Chapter 01. Introduced in Chapter 02). 

DaiSatan:DaiSatan was a powerful demonic spirit that traveled to Earth around 1.7-million years ago. He was summoned to Earth by Akessell, a member of the ancient Ryujinn that lived alongside the dinosaurs. DaiSatan killed Akessell and recruited Bandora in his efforts to take over the Earth. He gave her a deck of demonic cards and summoned the warrior Goldar and Scorpina to aid her. Zordon followed DaiSatan to Earth and banished him from the mortal plane. (First mentioned in Chapter 03. Introduced in Chapter 26). 

Dayus, Warlord of Illusion: Dayus's origins were a mystery. He was one of four Dark Warlords under the service of Bandora when she was released in 2001. He wore spider-like armor and carried six spears connected to a single fist weapon. His main attack was the "Web of Deception," which created a massive spider-web to ensnare his opponents. (Introduced in Chapter 01).

Dragon Ranger, Warlord of Cruelty: Fifteen-year-old Tommy Oliver was kidnapped by Bandora during her first attack on Angel Grove. She used the Sword of Darkness to warp his mind and turn him into her most powerful warlord. The Green Dragon Ranger controlled the Dragonzord and was armed with the Sword of Darkness and Dragon Dagger. His main attack was hurling a crackling bolt of jade-tinted arcane energy called the "Dragon's Fang." He used his Dragon Dagger to fire a jade-tinted energy wave called the "Dragon's Claw." (Introduced in Chapter 01).

Goldar: Goldar was a simian/wolf warrior from the planet Titan. He was summoned by DaiSatan about 1.7-million years ago to aid Bandora in her conquest of Earth. His mate was Scorpina, another of Bandora's henchmen. The winged warrior was equipped with mystical golden armor and carried a double-edged sword named Golken, etched with demonic runes for channeling power. His main attack was the "Golden Flame," which shot fiery energy from his sword. (Introduced in Chapter 02).

Gurail:Gurail's origins were a mystery. He was a powerful warrior under the service of Bandora when she was released in 2001. He wore ogre-like armor and carried a kusarigama, a small scythe on a metal chain with a heavy iron weight at the end. His main attack was the "Quake with Fear," which created a web of chains to ensnare his opponents. (Introduced in Chapter 02).

Kai: Bandora's son was chased off a cliff by a Tyrannosaurus after he disturbed its nest. He had tried to steal the dinosaur's eggs. Kai's death prompted Bandora into becoming an evil witch in the service of DaiSatan about 1.7-million years ago. DaiSatan resurrected Kai in the present day. The resurrection gave Kai powerful psionic abilities including telekinesis and telepathy. (First mentioned in Chapter 04. Introduced in Chapter 25).  

Kayl, Warlord of Deception: Kayl's origins were a mystery. He was one of four Dark Warlords under the service of Bandora when she was released in 2001. His weapon was a single-edged blade. His attack was the "Black Lightning Flash," which fired bolts of black electricity from his sword. (Introduced in Chapter 01).

Kyra: Tommy Oliver's girlfriend Shannon was kidnapped by Bandora during the witch's first attack on Angel Grove. Bandora used a cursed medallion to warp Shannon's mind and transform her into the warrior named Kyra. She often played a harpsichord with strings of energy within Bandora's palace. This swayed Gurail into becoming her lover. Kyra was armed with a pair of long-bladed sai. Her main attack was the "Star Light Scream," which fired red lightning from her blades. (Introduced in Chapter 05).

Rock soldiers:The grunts of Bandora's army. She summoned rock soldiers by using her demonic cards. Rock soldiers were barely-sentient creatures molded out of clay. (Introduced in Chapter 03).

Scorpina: Scorpina was summoned by DaiSatan about 1.7-million years ago to aid Bandora in her conquest of Earth. She was recruited from an unknown world and meshed with a scorpion spirit through DaiSatan's magick. She used her own magick to create a small army of scorpion creatures. She was Goldar's mate. Scorpina wore a suit of mystical golden armor and carried a boomerang-shaped blade. Her attack was the "Scorpion Sting," which empowered her blade with fiery-golden energy before she hurled the weapon at an opponent. (Introduced in Chapter 02).

Secmet, Warlord of Venom: Secmet's origins were a mystery. He was one of four Dark Warlords under the service of Bandora when she was released in 2001. He wore snake-like armor and carried two katana blades. His main attack was the "Snake Bite Strike," which whipped jagged tendrils of crimson energy from his sword or hands. (Introduced in Chapter 01).

MISCELLANEOUS

Akessell:One of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. Akessell was a weak boy and sought ways to make himself stronger. He used an ancient spell to summon the evil spirit DaiSatan to Earth about 1.7-million years ago. Akessell planned to harness the powers of the evil spirit. But DaiSatan turned Akessell into his herald and killed the boy afterward.

Alpha-5:A mystical android created by Zordon on Earth about 1.7-million years ago. Bandora placed a curse on Zordon that separated his consciousness from his body. Zordon used the One Power to communicate with the ancient people of Earth, the Ryujinn, and enlist their help in building a Command Chamber. Zordon used the Command Chamber to appear as a holographic projection. He used a mix of Eltarian technology and magick to create Alpha as an assistant in the Command Chamber. (Introduced in Chapter 03).

Applebee, Mrs:Mrs. Applebee was Tommy's sophomore political science teacher at Angel Grove North Community High School. Her students often mocked her for her obesity. (First mentioned in the prologue. Introduced in Chapter 16).

Barza: One of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. He was a chief weapons maker during the first Great War of the Ryujinn, following the arrival of DaiSatan. After the war splintered the great Ryujinn kingdom, Barza went into seclusion and lived alongside a pack of tamed raptors. Years later, he would be discovered by the Dragon Ranger Burai and craft the golden Dragon Shield for the Green Ranger. He was gifted with the Sight, meaning he could see glimpses of the future. He foretold that one of the wearers of the shield would be the Dragon, the harbinger of the apocalypse. (Introduced in Chapter 20)

Boi:Boi was recruited by Zordon to become the first Yellow Tiger Ranger about 1.7-million years ago. He was one of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. Boi was the knight of the Ryujinn's Daimu Clan. (Introduced in Chapter 20)

Brad: Brad was an elementary-school student who often bullied Simon Kaden, a 9-year-old friend to the Power Rangers. (Introduced in Chapter 15)

Brandy: Brandy was a high school student who lived in Angel Grove when Bandora's attacks first started happening. She was part of the first wave of residents to move away from Angel Grove because of the monster attacks. She moved with her mother to Reefside, a city in Virginia. (Introduced in Chapter 07)

Burai: Burai was recruited by Zordon to become the first Green Dragon Ranger about 1.7-million years ago. He was one of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. He was 8-years-old when his father, the Black Knight of the Yamato Clan, was killed by the Yamato King. Burai witnessed the murder and swore vengeance on the Yamato Clan. Burai joined Bandora's forces when he learned that the Red Tyranno Ranger, Geki, was the adopted son of the Yamato King. Burai swore vengeance against Geki. But he later learned that Geki was his younger brother. The Yamato King had fined the Black Knight his infant son, Geki,  and the Black Knight was killed when he went to war with the Yamato King to retrieve the infant. Geki was raised as the Yamato King's own son without ever knowing his true heritage. Burai's conflicting emotions led him to take his own life and hand his Power Coin over to Geki. Bandora killed Geki and retrieved the Dragon Power Coin, but his Tyranno Power Coin was safely secured by Zordon before the witch could touch it. (First mentioned in Chapter 03. Introduced in Chapter 20)

Chelsea Oliver: Chelsea was Tommy's sister by adoption. They were the same age and had the same birthday. (Introduced in the prologue).

Dan: Dan was recruited by Zordon to become the first Blue Tricera Ranger about 1.7-million years ago. He was one of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. Dan was the knight of the Etofu Clan. (Introduced in Chapter 20)

Dark Man:A cryptic figures who appeared to Tommy to offer support and advice. His origins and true identity were a mystery. He seemed to know that Tommy's struggle went far beyond his battle with Bandora. (Introduced in Chapter 13)

Elliot "Hunter" Lee: Born in 1990. Hunter was the 10-year-old brother of Steven "Blake" Lee, an elementary-school student who Billy Cranston tutored. The Lee brothers' parents were separated. Hunter lived with his mother in Angel Grove East, and his younger brother Blake lived with their father in Angel Grove Central. (First mentioned in Chapter 08)

Geki:Geki was recruited by Zordon to become the first Red Tyranno Ranger about 1.7-million years ago. He was one of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. Geki was the infant son of the Yamato King's Black Knight. The Black Knight ran afoul of the Yamato King and was fined his infant son, Geki. The Black Knight was killed when he went to war with the Yamato King to retrieve the infant. Geki was raised as the Yamato King's own son without ever knowing his true heritage. (First mentioned in Chapter 03. Introduced in Chapter 20)

Goushi: Goushi was recruited by Zordon to become the first Black Mammoth Ranger about 1.7-million years ago. He was one of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. Goushi was a knight of the Sharma Clan. (Introduced in Chapter 20)

Ian:Ian was a friend to Zack Taylor. They often partied together, drank, and experimented with drugs. (Introduced in Chapter 06)

Janet Scott: Janet was Jason's twin sister. Jason and Janet were attacked by members of the Purple Dragon Gang shortly before Jason became a Power Ranger. Janet was shot and killed during the attack. (First mentioned in Chapter 01)

Jestin:The first Ranger to emerge, eons ago, at the beginning of recorded time. From Eltar. He defeated a galaxy-wide empire of evil ruled over by Sauron and established an Order of Masters and Rangers. (First mentioned in Chapter 21)

Keagan: Keagan was an elementary-school student who often bullied Simon Kaden, a 9-year-old friend to the Power Rangers. (Introduced in Chapter 15)

Kevin:Kevin was a friend to Zack Taylor. They often partied together, drank, and experimented with drugs. (Introduced in Chapter 06)

Koji, Professor: Professor Koji was the biological grandfather of Maya Koji, whose parents died when she was young. Professor Koji was deemed too emotionally unstable to look after his granddaughter, so she was taken in by a foster home. Professor Koji mysteriously possessed a laptop hard drive with information on the Rangers, their powers, and their history. He was killed by Bandora before Maya could find out where he got the hard drive. (Introduced in the prologue).

Kosugi, Master:Master Kosugi was a janitor for the Center Grove Community School District in Angel Grove Central. Billy Cranston was a student of the school district.  Master Kosugi was part of theIkkazuchi Way martial arts school in Japan before breaking away from the school and moving to the United States. He taught Billy the Ikkazuchi Way's Jinenkan style. (First mentioned in Chapter 15)

Logan:A leader of the Purple Dragon Gang in Angel Grove. He was responsible for shooting and killing Jason's twin sister Janet. (Introduced in Chapter 18)

Maya Koji: Maya's parents died when she was young. Her biological grandfather, Professor Koji, was deemed too emotionally unstable to look after her. So she was taken in by a foster family in Angel Grove North. The 17-year-old lived with the same foster family as Simon Kaden, a 9-year-old who she considered a younger brother. Maya and Simon were friends to the Power Rangers. (Introduced in Chapter 01).

Mei: Mei was recruited by Zordon to become the first Pink Ptera Ranger about 1.7-million years ago. She was one of the Ryujinn, the ancient people of Earth who lived alongside the dinosaurs. She was the princess of the Rishiya Clan. (Introduced in Chapter 20)

Michael Long:Michael was a high-school student who lived in Angel Grove. His best friend Brandy was part of the first wave of people who moved away from Angel Grove because of the frequent monster attacks. He often questioned the sanity of the world because of those attacks. (Introduced in Chapter 07)

Mugensai, Master:Lead sensei of the Hayate Way. First to instruct Tommy Oliver the Hakkyokuseiken style. (First mentioned in the prologue).

Nern, Coach: Coach Nern was Kimberly's gymnastics coach at Angel Grove South Community High School. She was very demanding of Kimberly. (First mentioned by name in Chapter 10)

Ohm, Master: Master Ohm was Jason Scott's sensei. Master Ohm had a small dojo in Angel Grove's Little Tokyo. (First mentioned in Chapter 01. Introduced in Chapter 05).

Sauron:The evil being ruled over a galaxy-wide empire of evil eons ago, at the beginning of recorded time. He was defeated by the first Ranger, Jestin. (First mentioned in Chapter 21)

Shannon Parker:Tommy's girlfriend. She was a brilliant musician on the piano. The piano had been her escape. Shannon's father had been an abusive drunk. Her mother stood by and did nothing, pretending that all was right with the world. Pretending that her husband didn't cheat on her weekly or make her daughter cry. She was critically injured in Bandora's first attack on Angel Grove, and Bandora kidnapped her and warped her mind with a mystical medallion that turned her into the villain Kyra. (Introduced in the prologue)

Simon Kaden: Simon lived with a foster family in Angel Grove North. Born in 1991. His foster father was a minister who took in many children in need of a home. The 9-year-old lived with the same foster family as 17-year-old Maya Koji, who he considered an older sister. Simon and Maya were friends to the Power Rangers. (Introduced in Chapter 01).

Steven "Blake" Lee: Blake was tutored by Billy Cranston. Born in 1991. The 9-year-old boy's parents were separated. Blake lived with his father in Angel Grove Central, and his older brother Elliot "Hunter" Lee lived with their mother in Angel Grove East. (Introduced in Chapter 08)

Tao, Master:Master Tao was Trini's grandfather by adoption. Tao continued Trini's training in the martial arts despite the protests of her father by adoption. (Introduced in Chapter 09)

Teddy Oliver: Teddy, nine-years-old, was Tommy's younger brother by adoption. Born in 1991. (Introduced in Chapter 16)

Zedd, Lord:1.7 million years ago, before Zordon followed DaiSatan to earth, Lord Zedd led an army that wiped out the Order of Masters and Rangers. (First mentioned in Chapter 22)

Zordon: Zordon served as a soldier in Lord Zedd's empire more than 1.7-million years ago. He was young and did not realize the empire was evil and oppressive. Zordon broke away from the empire, became a Ranger, and started a resistance movement against Lord Zedd. Zordon left his homeworld of Eltar and fought evil across the galaxy. He followed the evil spirit DaiSatan to Earth. Zordon tapped into the One Power to create mighty beasts to fight against DaiSatan and his witch Bandora. The Ryujinn, an ancient race that lived alongside the dinosaurs, named these beasts "zords" after Zordon. Zordon created a set of Power Coins that allowed six Ryujinn to harness the power of the Dinozords and become Rangers. With the Rangers' help, Zordon banished DaiSatan from the mortal plane. But Bandora placed a curse on Zordon that separated his consciousness from his body. Zordon used the One Power to communicate with the Ryujinn and enlist their help in building a Command Chamber. Zordon used the Command Chamber to appear as a holographic projection. He used a mix of Eltarian technology and magick to create the android Alpha-5 as an assistant in the Command Chamber.
